Mom guilt is a phrase slung around in our conversations, on social media, in the books we're reading. But what does it mean? And how do we hold this feeling of guilt alongside the truth of the Gospel in a felt way that yields fruit in our actual experience of mothering?

New City moms, you're invited to join Sara Williams and Abby Murrish as they lead a discussion on this topic on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 9a at the church building.

Provided with your registration is coffee, a light breakfast and the short booklet, "Mom Guilt and the God Who Sees" by Lauren Whitman. The booklet will be available for pickup in the Atrium a few weeks before the event, and participants are invited to read the booklet beforehand if possible.

Please register and make plans to join us!

"Mom guilt. Moms today are well acquainted with the term. We use it as a kind of shorthand to express an all-too-common feeling we face in the everyday events of mothering...  If moms use “mom guilt” as shorthand, what is it shorthand for? It seems it is used as a substitute for something that feels harder to say, harder to admit, and harder to deal with. It’s easier to say, “I had mom guilt” than to say, “I felt like a failure as a mom.”
And this is what I am learning: mom guilt sees only failure. But God? He sees me completely." —Lauren Whitman

We are unable to provide childcare, but lap babies are welcome to attend and stay with their moms.

This event will have some application for women who have children in elementary school, but there will be applications for any season of mothering and any mom is welcome to attend.

We will be offering another event geared towards moms with elementary students later in the summer.
